DISCOVER ALMERÍA FROM ROQUETAS DE MAR
City of Almería.
Almeria is the capital of the province and is located just 15 minutes from Roquetas de Mar. The city, which just completed its first millennium has many cultural offerings to know its history.
You should visit the Alcazaba, the largest in Europe and where recently scenes from the famous series Game of Thrones have been recorded. Also the Cathedral fortress, its shelters of the civil war, the intricate streets of the Medina or the wide museum offer available such as the Museum of the guitar, the Archeological Museum, the Art Museum, Casa de Doña Pakyta, the House of film or the poet Jose Valente’s house.

Cabo de Gata Nijar Natural Park is undoubtedly one of the jewels in the crown of the province at landscape level. Its beauty is unmatched in the Iberian peninsula. In this Natural Park of volcanic character, you can enjoy the pristine virgin beaches, used in many movies as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade or El Niño. You can also admire its fishing and charming villages as San Jose, Las Negras, Los Albaricoques or the village of Cabo de Gata which is, certainly, a required visit.

Desert of Tabernas.
The largest desert in Europe is located in Almeria. Furthermore, it is the nerve centre of the filming of Spaghetti Western, where Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood established themselves as the big film stars they are today. We find precipices, gorges and colours that surprise us from the moment we enter it.
In addition, in Tabernas you can enjoy various theme parks dedicated to wildlife and, of course, to the western, such as the Oasis of Tabernas, Fort Bravo and Western Leone, an ideal place to spend some time with family or friends.

La Alpujarra.
Very close to Roquetas we can find the entrance to one of the most captivating parts of the province of Almeria, Las Alpujarras. They are found in the southern foothills of Sierra Nevada. In the villages that compose them, we can see the Arabian past, the orchards and the magnificent water use inherited in this area. It is also easily noticeable to see how its inhabitants have adapted to the environment.
The cuisine of this area and its wines are certainly an incentive to visit such beautiful landscapes. Towns like Laujar, Berja, Bayarcal, Fondon or Alhama are a haven of rest, where you can walk and enjoy the peacefulness and silence.
